Aboitiz Foundation through AP Renewables Inc, turned over funds to TESDA’s Provincial Training Center of Albay (PTC-Albay) last February 13, 2025 for the sponsorship of scholarship of the  22 Out-of-School-Youths (OSYs) of Tiwi. The ceremonial turn-over was held in Brgy. Libjo, Tiwi and is attended by the 22 scholarship recipients with their parents and guardians.

The 22 youths who were the first batch of this scholarship program are to take the course in Electrical Installation and Maintenance (EIM) and will be eligible for a full scholarship in the training including insurance and daily allowance subsidy.

A BETTER FUTURE.  (L-R) Municipal Councilor and Chairman Committee on Education Jerahmeel Clerigo, MMT Representative Salve Lizardo,  APRI Reputation Manager Wendy Bautista, TESDA Region V Acting Regional Director Mariglo L. Macabuhay-Sese, CESE and PTC Albay (Malilipot) Center Administrator Raquel Mien represented the official turnover ceremony of the donated funds for the program.

She also added, “Sa mga magulang din na nandito, this is the time that you really have to show your support sa mga anak nyo para matapos ang training. Sila ay papasok sa center araw-araw at mag-undergo ng OJT.”

In this program, the scholars will undergo 25 days of in-school training and five months of on-the-job training. After which, they are expected to take the National Certification (NC) II examination.

Councilor Jha Clerigo, Tiwi’s Committee on Education Chair, acknowledged that APRI’s allocation of budget towards community education is one of the town’s blessings. He also recognized that Tiwi is blessed with natural resources, including its geothermal resource.

“Our target is to increase the number of scholars that we currently have to contribute to the economic progress of Tiwi. We are positive that these scholars will eventually get their NCII accreditation and contribute to the higher employment rate in the region”, said APRI Reputation Manager Wendy Bautista.

Year-to-date, APRI has sponsored 435 TechVoc scholars since 2011 across Tiwi and MakBan sites and has already produced 392 graduates. Currently, APRI and TESDA are exploring the possibility of offering more courses in the future based on the needs of the Region.| – BNN News
