BATANGAS — THE Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded three phreatic eruptions of Taal Volcano early Friday evening.
At least three (3) weak phreatic events, each lasting a minute, occurred at the Taal Main Crater between 7:15 PM and 7:23 PM this evening, 2 August 2024, the Phivolcs said.
The footage was taken by the Phivolcs’ Buco, Talisay thermal camera station (VTBC).
The said volcanic events generate steam-rich plumes that rose 900 meters above Taal Volcano Island.
Meanwhile, Phivolcs reminded the public that Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 1 (Low-Level Unrest).
