TALISAY, BATANGAS — The country’s smallest active volcano, the Taal Vocano, recorded a minor phreatic eruption from its Main Crater at 12:39 PM today, 26 September 2024, the Philippine Instittute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
Based on the video captured by the thermal and IP cameras of the Daang Kastila Observation Station (VTDK) and the Buco, Talisay (VTBC) IP Camera at Taal Volcano Observatory (TVO), the said eruption will not have large impact to the lives of people living around the lake where the volcano is situated and authorities reminds the public that the volcano is still in Alert Level 1.
Locally called as “pusngat,” the event produced a 2,400-meter high eruption plume that drifted northwest.|
