Batangas dengue cases increase to 2,753 this year

THE Batangas Provincial Health Office confirms a total of 2,753 reported dengue cases in Batangas province as of June 30, 2025, a 463% increase from the 489 cases last year. The ages of affected patients range from 0-90 years old; majority were female (49.9%). While the most affected age group is from 0-9 years old. Similar to last year, there are 2 deaths reported.

The reported dengue cases are classified into three: suspected, probable, and confirmed. A suspected person is a previously well person with acute febrile illness of 2-7 days duration with clinical signs and symptoms of dengue. While a suspected case with positive dengue 1gM antibody test is identified as a probable case. Lastly, confirmed dengue cases are cases with positive results for Viral culture isolation, or Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR), or Dengue NS1 antigen test.

Based on the reported cases, 1,547 were identified as suspected, 803 were confirmed, and 403 were classified as probable. 

Out of all the cities and municipalities in the province, Batangas City recorded the highest number of reported cases, 489, followed by Lipa City with 352 cases.  

To fight against the dengue virus, the office developed programs like vector control and distribution of insecticide to all cities and municipalities. They also assured the public about their continuous monitoring and evaluation of existing health programs.| – BNN Integrated News
