CABANATUAN CITY (PIA) — A total of 23 cities and towns in the province of Nueva Ecija have adopted market digitalization.

This is in line with the Market Digitalization program of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI).

Provincial Director Richard Simangan shared that since 2022, DTI has encouraged market administrators to convert their price watch board electronically to make it more accessible to consumers.

The agency likewise enjoined local government units to use QR codes so that consumers can immediately see the prevailing price of commodities in public markets by simply scanning it.

DTI has also included the implementation of market digitalization and Paleng-QR Ph Plus as criteria in the annual Pinakamaringal na Pamilihang Bayan award.

“Our Market Digitalization program and the Paleng-QR Ph Plus program of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas are being launched simultaneously in cities and towns to encourage consumers and business establishments to use digital payments for easy transactions,” Simangan furthered.

Both programs have already been launched in the cities of San Jose, Palayan, and Cabanatuan.

Also, in the municipalities of San Antonio, Cuyapo, Nampicuan, Aliaga, Rizal, Zaragoza, Gabaldon, Santa Rosa, Bongabon, Guimba, Lupao, Talugtug, Carranglan, Quezon, Talavera, Licab, Santo Domingo, Pantabangan, Cabiao and San Isidro. (CLJD/CCN, PIA Region 3-Nueva Ecija)
